Detrimental
New routes home –
Going abroad alone –
And practice of talking to strangers
They tell us are things detrimental
Juicy red meat –
Fried foods that we eat –
And the amount we drink
Too are things – detrimental
But to see only the same street –
Never a new person to meet –
Bland diets with no treats –
Is this to real life, not detrimental?
Padre
Thank you Fandango for the excellent prompt: Detrimental
Okay, before anyone cries “foul,” I acknowledge that I am a teetotal pescetarian. I am an avid traveler and one who enjoys good food, however, so the sentiment and the thrust of the poem is from the heart.

I’d say to stay home, talk only with your familiar folks, and apply a dietary regime entirely restrictive, might be the most detrimental.
