Roast dinners are a English Sunday institution. Silverside Beef makes for a really nice slow cooked dish, and with a little time, a really tender and tasty meal.
- Silverside Beef Joint 500 – 650 g
- Onion 1 large
- Garlic 2 large cloves
- Carrots 4
- Oxo Cube 1
- Water 1/4 cup
Preheat a crock pot or slow cooker on high. Crumble an Oxo cube into powder and rub the beef with the seasoning. Place the beef into the pot. Coarsely dice a garlic clove, and an onion place the pieces around the beef. Scrape and dice the carrots and add them to the pot. Finely dice the other clove and place on top of the meat. Pour the water into the edge of the pot as to not wash off the seasoning. Cover and cook for one hour, then reduce the temperature to low and cook for three to 3 1/2 additional hours.
Serve with gravy, celeriac mash, and peas.
