Thoughts Cast Adrift

Private thoughts captured –

Cast upon the seas of doubt –

Will they find landfall

Upon a receptive shore

Or merely drift far away?

The Tanka form in English is a poem of five lines with a 5/7/5/7/7 syllable structure.  A true Japanese Tanka counts thirty-one sounds as the Japanese do not count syllables in  Haiku or Tanka.  These poems typically do not have a rhyme structure.
