Sub-Saharan born within a State
As yet free from the growing strife
Then transitions came – all too many
Bringing a myriad of change to life
New lands in which to dwell
New tongues to learn and master
Yet holding to heart – traditions of a familiar past
As the world changed all the faster
For all the speeding roller coaster of life
From student to mother and wife
An African heart in her still beats
A heart that loves with all its might
