A snowbound road too slick to pass
Diversions and detours along the way.
How is it that life seems to stop,
Because it is a snowy day?
How can a flake so delicate,
Hold great machines at bay –
When it so easily melts away?
A snowbound road too slick to pass
Diversions and detours along the way.
How is it that life seems to stop,
Because it is a snowy day?
How can a flake so delicate,
Hold great machines at bay –
When it so easily melts away?
It’s mind-boggling isn’t it? But those delicate flakes can soon accumulate!

Every flake is a fluke waiting to happen.

Ah…..I remember our days in rural Iowa….now THOSE were blizzards! And yes, those beautiful delicate flakes turned into a swirling hurling curtain of white!
Your poem brought back memories….

It is amazing, isn’t it the way something so fragile can band together to create chaos. I do not miss my morning commutes to work in the winter!

Good questions, Padre! One of my friends who lives in KY said if they get a dusting, they haul out all of the big machines. Here in MI we need at least a few inches before anything gets set in motion. I guess it depends on what you’re used to as to how you’ll respond or not. Nice poem and metaphor.

Very timely, given we had freezing rain changing to snow here in my world today. Before it “melts away” it can do a heckuva lot of damage!! Great poem.

Timely indeed. We had a 5″ snowfall last Thursday … I actually paid someone to shovel. Which I NEVER do. The snow weighed a ton, money well spent.

I remember driving my VW bug back to school after an Iowa blizzard. The drifts were higher than my car.
