Holy Spirit’s Gleaning: Acts Poem 10

Cornelius was a man of authority

A true leader of men

A centurion from Italy

An officer and a gentile-man

He had a spirit generous

And on serving God he was intent

An angel appeared and instructed him

A message to Simon Peter was to be sent

Though reluctant to heed the call

Peter too a vision received

Of unclean things he was to dine

An image that left him grieved

The Lord assured him all was made clean

And Peter took its meaning

And so to the Roman he set off

To witness the Holy Spirit’s harvest gleaning
