Nineveh corrupt and coarse

Set upon evil to obey

Upon the testimony of just one man

Turned to change their way

What brought on this quick remorse?

Made a king – ashes wear?

It was a prophet of the Lord

Who arrived from out the mer

For Jonah reluctant to his duty fulfil

The Lord his heart did convert

And with his mission now complete

Nineveh’s destruction he did avert
