Forty days in a landscape bleak
Without a morsel the fast to break
And three times tested and tempted
But with scripture responding – until evil relented
We too are tried and by temptation tempted
Our walk is not from these trials exempted
But the example is there for us to see
That from the Bible, our shield of faith, our responses will be
And thus answering his challenges will cause the devil to flee
And we shall gain the victory
